Birchwood is a school like no other. This is not just marketing spiel! Our offer is distinctly unique in the area.
Our USP (unique selling points) can be distilled down to what we call, 'The 3 Ns':
[1] NEED: we know how to make pupils successful. Our large size makes this possible because it gives us the space and staffing to help all pupils regardless of need.
[2] NURTURE: we are uniquely inclusive with a particular focus on mental health and wellbeing.
[3] KNOWLEDGE: our staff are experienced and our provision offer vast and broad.
Our unusually enormous site; approachable and humanistic style; focus on excellence; and belief in the value of wellbeing and inclusion mean that pupils who attend our school display an enviable mix of genuine care for others and personal success.

Our unique approach comes in many forms:
Our heritage: families first lived around Birchwood Grove from 1879. Now in a new building (opened 2009), the original Birchwood Grove school opened in 1970. We are proud of our 56 years!
Our site: with the premises being extremely large, we are blessed with a level of space which no other local primary can match. This means we have access to a range of facilities and means of provision that other local schools simply cannot provide.
Our results: across many areas - particularly EYFS, are consistently above National averages.
Our staff: we have accrued an array of experienced staff in such a way that other local schools simply would not be able to replicate. We have two SENCOs; counsellors; a mental health practitioner; a WOWSI tutor; a Forest School teacher; specialist teaching assistants for speech, language and autism... Whatever your child's need or ambition, we know we have someone in our community who can support. At Birchwood, we believe in every child. Every child succeeds no matter what.
Our approach to teaching and behaviour: we have a notably relaxed style. We believe being approachable is best. However, we also expect the very best conduct from our pupils and staff. Ultimately, we look for kindness in all we choose to do.
